Ivanka Trump booed in Germany for praising father Donald Trump

Daughter of US president, Ivanka Trump was booed and hissed at by an audience in Berlin after she described her father Donald Trump as a "tremendous champion of supporting families."

Ivanka, 35, who made her first international outing as a White House advisor, is seen as an increasingly important influence on her father.

Speaking at a women's summit organised by the Group of 20 major economies in Berlin, German, she said that she wanted to use her influence to help empower women.

According to the US first daughter, she argued that her father was "a tremendous champion of supporting families,” a statement which immediately drew audible boos and rumbling from the audience who did not appear to agree with the assertion.

When pressed about Trump's past attitudes toward women, she said;
"I've certainly heard the criticism from the media, and that's been perpetuated."
During the summit, she discussed support for women entrepreneurs with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde among others.
"I'm listening, I'm learning, I'm defining the ways in which I think that I'll be able to have impact," she told the panel discussion.
The audience did not accept it when she
called her father a "tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive", with the moderator moving the discussion on amid a chorus of boos.
