Brazil reclaim No. 1 spot in FIFA world rankings after seven years
Brazil have been ranked as the best football nation in the world overtaking former leaders Argentina at the top of the latest FIFA world rankings, for the first
time in seven years.
Brazil
who have enjoyed an impressive record in the last one year in which they won their last nine matches and also became the first country to qualify for next years world cup in Russia last claim top spot in the ranking in 2010.
The five-time world champions are now on
1,661 points, 58 more than rivals Argentina who now sits in second.
Argentina lost their place following last week’s 2-0 defeat in Bolivia
which has left them struggling to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Germany is ranked 3rd followed by Chile in 4th and Colombia in 5th, completing the top five ranked teams.
In 6th place is France, with Belgium sitting in 7th while Portugal, Switzerland and Spain completed the top 10 respectively.
Northern Ireland climbed nine places up to joint 26th in Fifa's world rankings, level with the Republic of Ireland, who fell by two places.
England stay in 14th, with Wales dropping one place to 13th, while Scotland moved up eight spots to 59th.
Egypt are Africa’s best-placed team in 19th while Iran is Asia’s top side in 28th.
