"Women must earn less than men because they are weaker, smaller and less intelligent" - said Polish politician

A Right-Wing politician from Poland has said that women must earn less than men because they are weaker, smaller and less intelligent. 

Janusz Korwin-Mikke, 74 made the comments at the European Parliament during a debate on the gender pay gap during the week.

Janusz, an independent member of the European Parliament who has previously said that women should not be allowed to vote began his speech by explaining that there are no women ranked in the top 800 of a physics olympiad in Poland – an annual physics competition for students.

“Do you know which was the place in the Polish theoretical Physics Olympiad, the first place of women, of girls? I can tell you – 800th. Do you know how many women are in the first 100 chess players? I can tell you – not one.

Of course women must earn less than men because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent, and they must earn less. That is all.

Meanwhile the European Parliament has launched a hate speech investigation into Janusz's comments.  

He has previously been suspended from parliament after giving the Nazi salute and was also fined and suspended for 10 days after describing migrants as ‘human garbage’. In 2014, He was investigated for incitement to rape over remarks he made to the European Parliament.  

 

A parliamentary member, Iratxe Garcia Perez of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party who was outraged by his comments on Wednesday, launched a forceful counterattack saying

"I know it hurts and worries you that today women can sit in this house and represent European citizens with the same rights as you. I am here to defend all European women from men like you."
