Meet the 10 richest women in the World in 2017


In the spirit of Mother's day celebration we celebrate women all over the world. Women no doubt are the backbone of the society and deserved to be celebrated. And in doing so, we bring you the 10 richest women in the world in 2017.


Lets take a look through Forbes' recently released list of the 2017 world's wealthiest women, a banner year for billionaires has lifted the fortunes of female moguls around the globe with Liliane Bettencourt of France claiming the No. 1 spot with net worth of $39.5 billion. 


An all-time high of 2043 people made the recent ranks of FORBES’ World's Billionaires, of which 227 are women -a jump from last year’s 202 and a record for women billionaires. Women make up 11% of the list and have a collective net worth of $852.8 billion. The majority of the richest women in the world inherited their money.

According to Forbes, Bettencourt has a net worth of $39.5 billion making her the richest woman in the world for the second year running. $3.4 billion more than a year ago. Nearly all her wealth comes from owing a third of the cosmetic company L'Oreal, which her father founded in 1907.



She is followed by Alice Walton, the only daughter of Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart. Walton, who boasts a whopping $33.8 billion, retains her No. 2 spot from 2016, though her wealth has grown by $1.5 billion this year.

Jacqueline Mars, the granddaughter of the famed candy maker Frank Mars, comes in at No. 3 at $27 billion the same ranking she held last year.


Rounding out the world’s top 10 richest women is a group of heiresses who may not be personally well known but who make their fortunes from big and beloved brands. They include Maria Franca Fissolo, worth $25.2 billion, whose father-in-law created the spread that became Nutella, and whose late husband, Michele Ferrero, built the Ferrero Group into a snacks powerhouse with Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Chocolate and Tic Tacs brands under its umbrella; and Steve Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs, whose $20 billion fortune comes from her shares in Apple and Disney.
