London Attack: All you need to know about the London attack
At least four people including a police officer and a terrorist are among
those killed and 40 others wounded wounded following a terrorist attack
just yards from the UK Houses of Parliament on Wednesday.
Here's some few facts about the attack so far
* At 2:40pm, an attacker driving a grey Hyundai car mowed down about a dozen pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge killing at least two people and injuring approximately 40 other people with several being treated for serious injuries, including two police officers.
* The attacker crashed the vehicle into railings surrounding New Palace Yard and was then seen running through the gates of the Palace of Westminster with a knife.
* Four people have died - a police officer, the attacker, a woman in her mid 40s and a man in his mid 50s
* He stabbed an unarmed policeman Pc Keith Palmer, 48, who later died from the injuries before being shot by armed officers. Pc Palmer had worked for the Metropolitan Police for 15 years, having previously served in the armed forces.
* Investigators say they believe they know the identity of the attacker, and that he is thought to have acted alone but was “inspired by international terrorism”.
* Three French high school students, four British university students and two Romanians were among those injured when the attacker drove into pedestrians.
* Five South Korean tourists and a German woman resident in Australia were also identified among the wounded.
* One woman eneded up the Thames from the bridge and was later rescued from the water but sustained serious injuries.
* Seven people have been arrested and six addresses raided across London, Birmingham and elsewhere in the UK
* Seven people are in a critical condition, and 29 have been treated in hospital
* Parliament was sitting at the time and was put into lockdown.
* Prime Minister Theresa May has chaired a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee to discuss the immediate response to the incident.
* Some MPs were confined to the Commons chamber for nearly five hours after parliamentary business was suspended.
