Intruder breached White House grounds

An intruder carrying a backpack has been arrested overnight after scaling the fence and entering the White House grounds, while President Donald Trump was in residence, said the US Secret Service on Saturday.

Officials said a male suspect scaled the complex's South entrance Grounds fence close to where the president boards the Marine One helicopter at 11:38 pm on Friday, before he was discovered and arrested by a Secret Service officer.

It comes as the Trump administration only last week opened the White House up to the public, just nearly two months after he took power.
