Elon Musk' is plans to merge human brains with computers
Billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk is about to make a bold move as he plans to merge the human brains with computers, with a new start-up planning to develop the futuristic 'brain
implant' technology.
The future-oriented tech entrepreneur, made the disclosure on Tuesday, when he tweeted that he's preparing to launch Neuralink, a new venture
that the Wall Street Journal reported would focus on "neural lace."
As evidenced
by Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk has always been vocal about his fear
of a world take over by artificial intelligence (AI) and has previously called the rise of artificial
intelligence (AI) humanity’s “ biggest existential threat.” Curiously enough, his solution to keep the AI doomsday away is to merge the human brain with machines.
According
to the report in the Wall Street Journal, Neuralink
wants to develop so-called "neural lace" technology to implant tiny
brain electrodes that may one day upload and download thoughts. The new technology could link human brains with
computers, without a physical connection, by implanting tiny electrodes
into the brain. It could enhance memory and cognitive powers by
effectively merging human and artificial intelligence.
In his tweet, Musk said that more details about Neuralink would come "in about a week."
He
plans on funding the company mostly by himself, a person briefed on the
plans told the Journal, and with Neuralink hiring leading academics in
the field ahead of its official launch.
