Donald Trump signs new revised travel ban, excludes Iraq
US President Donald Trump on Monday signed a new revised executive order on immigration blocking citizens from six
majority-Muslim countries from entering the US and suspending refugee intake for 120
days.
The new order which is to take effect from March 16, replacing the previous order includes key changes that is meant to help avoid the problem, protests and the legal challenges that surrounded the first one. Iraq is now exempted from the new order that is only now limited to Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen.
The policy also exempts permanent residents and current visa holders, struck language offering preference to religious minorities — such as Christians from the Middle East.
It also reversed an indefinite ban on refugees from Syria, replacing it with a 120-day suspension that requires review and renewal.
