London Atttack: Four dead, many wounded in UK terror attack

At least four people including a police officer who was stabbed and others seriously wounded after a knifeman who attempted to storm the Houses of Parliament mowed down several people with a vehicle on Westminster Bridge before he attacked and stabbed a police officer before he was shot by officers in the incident described as a terrorist attack. 

At least 20 people are were injured as the attacker drove a grey Hyundai i40 across Westminster Bridge before crashing it into railings near the British parliament and then running through the gates of the Palace of Westminster and stabbing the officer.

According to reports, the alleged assailant, believed to be an Asian man in his 40s was wielding an ‘eight inch’ knife before he was shot by police in the grounds of Parliament on Wednesday afternoon.

Report say the car continued down towards Parliament after hitting several pedestrian, causing people to flee and jump into the Thames to avoid being struck. 

A woman was pulled alive, but with serious injuries, from the Thames, the Port of London Authority said.

A woman died in the incident on the bridge due to "catastrophic injuries" while another person has died in unspecified circumstances report the Express. 

Britain’s Houses of Parliament was in lockdown following the incident as London police said they were treating the attack “as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise.”

According to a reports by The Sun, a similar attack saw more than a dozen innocent pedestrians mowed down on Westminster Bridge which then crashed into the gates outside Portcullis House.

A witness by name Rick Longley told The Sun:
“We were just walking up to the station and there was a loud bang and a guy, someone, crashed a car and took some pedestrians out.
“They were just laying there and then the whole crowd just surged around the corner by the gates just opposite Big Ben.
“A guy came past my right shoulder with a big knife and just started plunging it into the policeman.
“I have never seen anything like that. I just can’t believe what I just saw.”
According to reports, several victims of the attack are being treated for "catastrophic" injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the attacker was shot by police as he approached a second officer clutching his knife.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May who was in the voting lobby at the time, was reportedly bundled into a car by a plainclothes police officer and driven quickly from the scene while members of parliament were ordered into a lobby by gun-wielding counter-terrorism police officers.
