Bastian Schweinsteiger signs with Chicago Fire from Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to join
Major League Soccer club, Chicago Fire next week after departing Old Trafford in a designated player deal, the Chicago Tribune has reported.
Both clubs confirmed the news on Tuesday, with Bastian expected to link up with Veljko Paunovic's side next week after signing a designated player contract that guarantees him $4.5 million in 2017.
The German, who signed for Manchester United in the 2015/2016 season by then manager, Luis van Gal has been out of favour with new manager Jose Mourinho who arrived at the club last summer.

“Throughout my career, I’ve always sought opportunities where I hoped to make a positive impact and to help make something great,” Schweinsteiger is quoted as saying by the newspaper.
“My move to Chicago Fire is no different.”Meanwhile Chicago Fire General Manager Nelson Rodriguez has said the club were getting a proven winner in Schweinsteiger.
“We’re adding someone who has won at every level, including the very highest levels, and has done so in a way that is consistent with our values,” said Rodriguez.Schweinsteiger spent 13 seasons with Bayern Munich, winning eight Bundesliga titles, seven German Cups and the Champions League in 2013 and was also captained Germany to the 2014 World Cup glory in Brazil. He represented his country 121 times before announcing his retirement from international football last July.
