Agitation for Biafra suffers setback as France backs out

The agitation for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria has suffered some setback as France backs out, claiming they won't be supporting anyone.

The French Government recently made the disclosure that they won't be supporting anyone, or group fighting for the division of Nigeria.

According to The Guardian, French Ambassador to Nigeria, Denys Gauer disclosed that France has withdrawn the support they gave Biafra during the Nigerian civil war.

The Ambassador also revealed that France is working with the Nigerian government, to
resolve the issue of insurgency that has ruined development in some parts of the country.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, a political activist based in the UK is currently facing trial by the Nigerian government after he was arrested in Lagos on 14 October, 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and charged with treasonable felony. Nigeria.

He has continued to remain in prison despite various court orders that ruled for his release.
