White House bars CNN, BBC, Daily News and many other media outlets from press briefing
US president, Donald Trump has continued his war against the media and this time, the president turned the power of the White House against the US media on Friday by blocking several major media outlets from covering its daily press briefing after he had described them as “the enemy of the
people” and threatened to 'do something' about the media.
Among the news outlets blocked from the press briefing includes; CNN, BBC, The New York Times, LA Times, New York Daily News, BuzzFeed, The Hill, and the Daily Mail.
In a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference, on Friday, Trump criticized the media as “fake news” organizations that publish anonymously sourced reports that reflect poorly on him.
The White House decision has be condemned by major US media outlets as “unacceptable” and an “insult to democratic ideals.”
Also on Friday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer hand-selected news outlets to participate in an off-camera “gaggle” with reporters inside his West Wing office instead of the James S Brady Press Briefing Room, selecting friendly conservative outlets like Fox News, the One America News Network and Breitbart News, while the BBC, The Los Angeles Times and others were excluded.
