Turkey sacks more civil servants

Turkey on Wednesday sacked more than 4,400 civil servants including teachers, police officers and academics over their alleged links with terrorist organisations, stated a decree, the latest in a series of purge since a failed coup July 2016.

Among the 4,464 workers affected, 2,585 were of the Education Ministry which was the hardest hit, of whom most are teachers, 330 are university employees, 1,310 police officers and other law enforcement workers.

Also other sectors affected include the election commission, state broadcaster TRT, the EU Ministry and the Foreign Ministry.
