Some facts you need to know after Manchester United's EPL Cup win
Manchester United won the EPL Cup final on Sunday after defeating Southampton 3-2 thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic who scored twice on either side of Jesse Lingard's goal to hand the Old Trafford club the trophy for the fifth time.
Here are some facts you need to know after the game.
-The win is United's second piece of silverware this season after winning the 2016 FA Community Shield vs. Leicester City in 2016.
-It is also United's 41st major trophy, tying Liverpool for most by an English club.
-With his two goals, Ibrahimovic, 35 has now scored six times in his
last five domestic cup finals and also took his goal tally to 26 in 38
games for
United.
-Ibrahimovic also became the second oldest scorer in League Cup Final history at 35, after George Eastham in 1972.
-The win secured Jose Mourinho his first major trophy in his first season as United manager and his fourth League Cup trophy equaling the record jointly held by Brian Clough and Alex Ferguson wining all four of the League Cup finals he has contested (2005, 2007, 2015 and 2017).
-The victory also meant that Jose Mourinho became the first Manchester United manager to win a trophy in his first season at the club.
-Manchester United have now won the tournament on five occasions, a record bettered only by Liverpool who has won it eight times.
