Pakistan bans Valentine's Day celebrations, says unIslamic

A Pakistani court on Monday banned Valentine's Day celebrations in public places across the country saying it is unIslamic.

The ruling handed down by an Islamabad High Court (IHC) also prohibited local media from covering and publicizing anything related to the day.

Recall that in 2016, the court failed in an unsuccessful attempt to ban the celebration. And also last year, Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain hard urged Pakistanis not to observe Valentine’s Day, which he described as a Western tradition that threatens to undermine Islamic values.
"Valentine's Day has no connection with our culture and it should be avoided," he had said.
Pakistan is a conservative Muslim country and the sixth-most populous country in the world with a population of more than 200 million people of which 96.4 are Muslims.
