North Cyprus no longer safe haven for fugitives fleeing justice
North Cyprus will no longer be a safe heaven for fugitives after a British High Court judge rule in a landmark decision that the
UK police can co-operate with law enforcement agencies in North Cyprus.
According to the ruling, fugitives from British justice who refuse to return to the UK to face trial can no longer use Northern Cyprus to escape punishment for their crimes but instead can be prosecuted in North Cyprus.
Runaway fugitives from the UK has used the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus as a safe heaven for years in the knowledge that they cannot be extradited. But the ruling has now change that allowing British police to co-operate with law-enforcement agencies on the island.
