National Association of Nigerian Students, Turkish Zone appoints new officials

The National Association of Nigerian Students, Turkish Zone (NANSTRzone) held its convention on Saturday February 18th at the Girne American University, GAU, Girne to elect its new officials. Following the election, Evidence Akhayere of the Cyprus International University, CIU emerged as the new president of the association.
The convention was attended by delegates and observers from all the universities in Cyprus. The outgoing officials delivered a brief of their tenure after which the convention was inaugurated.

The congress chairman, Mr. Essien Edidion from CIU conducted the election in a peaceful and orderly manner following a tensed atmosphere that had threatened to disrupt the process due to disagreement among members of some delegates.

Ex Officio 2 - Mr. Mahmood Aliyu (CIU) (won by concession after a tie)
Director of Sports - Mr. Deji (Lefke)
Director of Travel and Exchange - Mr. Frankly (GAU) - Unopposed
PRO - Mr. Benjamin (EMU) - Unopposed
Financial Secretary - Mr. Ifeanyi Nweke (NEU) - Unopposed
Treasurer - Mr. Tijani (NEU) appointed by the Financial Secretary
Assistant Secretary - Mr. Miri (Lefke)
Deputy Senate President - Mr. Ifeoluwa Osho (CIU) - Unopposed
Senate President - Miss. Vanessa Chika (GAU)
Clerk - Mr. Jerry Sambe (EMU) - Appointed by Senate President
Vice President 1 (Special Duties) - Mr. Chisom (EMU) - Unopposed.
Vice President 2 (External Affairs) - Miss. Debra Eric (GAU) - Unopposed
Vice President 3 (National Affairs) - Mr. Frederick (NEU) - Unopposed
President - Mr. Akhayere Evidence (CIU) - Unopposed.
Secretary - Mr. Darlington Okeke (CIU) - Appointed by the President.

Delivering his acceptance speech after he was announced the new president, Mr. Evidence Akhayere congratulated all the winners and thank all those present including all the delegates from every institutions present. He promised to carry everyone along and to work effortlessly with his team to move the association forward.
