Leicester City sacks manager Claudio Ranieri just 9 months after lifting the Premier League title
English Champions, Leicester City on Thursday sacked manager Claudio Ranieri, just nine
months after he led the club to their first ever Premier League title.
The 65-year-old Italian who guided the Foxes to an unlikely title triumph last season, left the club in seventh position in the Premier League table, just one point above relegation zone.
Ranieri who was named FIFA's Coach of the Year for his achievement has come under increasing scrutiny this season, as he was unable to lead the Foxes close to the heights of last season.
The club has struggled so much this season that they have won only 5 games in 25 leagues games, lost seven of their last nine matches, including Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against Sevilla, and failed to score a league goal in 2017.
Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare and first-team coach Mike Stowell, will take charge of the team till a new manager is appointed.

"Leicester City Football Club has tonight parted company with its first team manager, Claudio Ranieri, read a club statement.
"Claudio, appointed City manager in July 2015, led the Foxes to the greatest triumph in the club's 133-year history last season, as we were crowned champions of England for the first time. His status as the most successful Leicester City manager of all time is without question.
"However, domestic results in the current campaign have placed the club's Premier League status under threat, and the board reluctantly feels that a change of leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the club's greatest interest," the statement concluded. The club had two weeks ago passed a of confidence for their manager, saying he had their "unwavering support" but that is no no longer the case after his dismissal.
