America's oldest woman dies at 114
The oldest person in America, Adele Dunlap from New Jersey has died at the age of 114. Adele who turned 114 in December, 2016 died on Sunday at Hunterdon Medical Center.
Dunlap was born on December 12, 1902, in Newark and is survived by two sons, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She taught in school before marrying and raising her three children. Her husband who worked for an insurance company died in 1963.
Before her death, she was the oldest person living in America, following the death of Goldie Michelson, of Worcester,
Massachusetts who died in July, 2016 at the age of 113. The record now passes to Delphine Gibson, 113, of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, said Robert D. Young, director of the Gerontology Research Group.
Although according to reports, Marie-Josephine Gaudette who is 114, and currently lives in Italy, is the oldest living American.
