Turkey's president, Recep Erdogan urges voters to support presidential system of government for Turkey

Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday urged supporters in Istanbul to vote for a proposed constitutional change in an upcoming referendum on an executive presidency for Turkey.

The president who was speaking at the opening ceremony for a new metro line in Istanbul’s Pendik district, said;
I believe that you will walk towards the future by working day and night at this campaign for the referendum.” “Now I hope the nation will make a real decision,” he said.
Early Saturday, the Turkish parliament voted in favour of a new constitutional amendment bill with a referendum likely to be held in April, following president Erdogan’s approval.

The proposed changes to the constitution require a simple majority in the referendum. The electorate will be allowed to decide if the current parliamentary system in the country should be replaced with a presidential system.
