Thousands of women hold protest march against Donald Trump around the world
About 100,000 people joined women's marches in London, Washington and Asia on Saturday as
part of protests held around major cities in the world against US President Donald
Trump.
According to organisers on it's website, an estimated 100,000 people stormed central London on Saturday while 200,000 people gathered for a rally outside the US Capitol building where Trump's inauguration was held on Friday.
Organizers also said about 670 marches were planned worldwide with more than two million marchers expected to take part.
Protesters were seen waving banners with slogans like "Special relationship, just say no" and "Nasty women unite" while several others wore pink "pussy" hats, and carried banners with the caption: "this pussy bites back" in reference to a 2005 tape in which Trump spoke of women in a demeaning way.
Not left out in the protest were several celebrities
including rights activist Bianca Jagger, singer Charlotte Church and
actor Ian McKellen who expressed their support for the protest on social
media while celebrities
like Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, Amy Schumer and Patricia Arquette are
expected to be among the demonstrators at Washington.
Marches also took place in Europe's major cities including Berlin, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Geneva and Amsterdam as more 2,000 people marched in Vienna, according to estimates by organizers.
Also defeated presidential candidate, Hilary Clinton tweeted her support for the protesters.
