John Obi Mikel leaves Chelsea, sign for Chinese club Tianjin TEDA
Super Eagles of Nigeria captain and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has become the latest Premier
League player to make a big-money move to Chinese Super League after
completing his transfer to Tianjin TEDA on a free on Thursday.
Mikel, 29 is understood to have signed a three-year deal that will see him earn a reported £140,000 a week.
Mikel who joined Chelsea in 2006 made 374 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club and went on to win a Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups and the Europa league with the Blues. He was however frozen out of first-team football by coach Antonio Conte this season.
In a letter on Twitter to the Chelsea family and fans, Mikel thanked the club and said goodbye to the fans and also took out time to reflect on his successes with the club.
