ISIS claims responsibility for Istanbul attack

Islamic State group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the fatal shootings by a gunman which took place at an Istanbul nightclub in the early hours of New Year's Day killing 39 people and wounding 65 others.

"In continuation of the blessed operations that Islamic State is conducting against the protector of the cross, Turkey, a heroic soldier of the caliphate struck one of the most famous nightclubs where the Christians celebrate their apostate holiday," the group's statement said.
