Gambia's new President, Adama Barrow returns to country

new President, Adama Barrow has finally returned
to the country on Thursday following the exile of former long time
leader, Yahya Jammeh who departed the country on Sunday after mediation
by African regional bloc ECOWAS and the threat of military intervention.
Barrow, 51 who defeated Jammeh in a December, 2016 election was sworn into office on January 19th at the Gambia embassy in Senegal after Jammeh refused to step down.
Barrow was greeted by thousands of people at the airport and in the streets of Banjul.

"I am a happy man today," Barrow told The Associated Press, "I think the bad part is finished now," he added.Barrow promised to put his Cabinet in place soon and "then get the ball rolling," adding that a commission would be set up to address reconciliation.
