US Vice president, Joe Biden hints he will run for president in 2020

Current US Vice President Joe Biden speaking to reporters in Washington on Monday, hinted that he could be running for president come 2020.

"I'm gonna run in 2020," Biden said, as heard in audio recorded by an NBC News correspondent.

When asked what for, by the reporter, Biden responded: "For president."

When pressed further on the comment, Biden said;

"I'm not committing not to run."

"I'm not committing to anything. I learned a long time ago fate has a strange way of intervening."

Biden's remarks comes after he presided over an emotional vote in the US Senate to rename part of a medical innovation bill after his oldest son, Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

though Biden decided against running for the recent presidential race, saying the window had "closed" for him to mount a successful campaign as his family mourned Beau.

Biden ran his own presidential campaign in 2008 before being picked as then-Senator Barack Obama's running mate.
