US judge orders the immediate recount of Michigan presidential ballots

According to media report in US, a US federal judge has ordered the recount of Michigan's November 8, presidential ballots to begin on Monday December 5 and directed that the state complete the process by the December 13 federal deadline.
According to the Detroit Free Press report on its website, US District Judge Mark Goldsmith issued the written order early Monday morning after a Sunday night hearing in federal court that lasted for three hours.

Lawyers for Green Party candidate Jill Stein filed a lawsuits last week calling for a presidential ballot recount in three states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, three "Rust Belt" states with a history supporting Democrats, which Donald Trump won by a narrow margin.

According to the green party candidate, Jill Stein, she said their requests for recounts in those states were focused on ensuring the integrity of the US voting system and not on changing the result of the election.

The Free Press reported that Goldsmith ordered that, once the recount has started, it "must continue until further order of this court."

The recount, will begin at noon on Monday, two days ahead of the two-day waiting period the state had planned to observe from Wednesday.
