Snapchat Adds Group Chat, Shazam and Group-Chat features

Snapchat on Tuesday added three new features into its app, Groups, Scissors and Paintbrush which give users the ability to chat with up to 16 friends and integration with music app Shazam.

The social-media platform entered a deal with Shazam, that allow users identify a song playing nearby by pressing and holding on the Snapchat camera screen which allows users to access Shazam content and send their music and artist discoveries as Snaps to their friends.

The new Groups allows users to create group chats with up to 16 people while sending a Snap, or when making a new chat which can be deleted by default after 24 hours and displays friends names at the bottom of the conversation when they are present in a group chat.

Snaps sent to a Group can only be opened and replayed once by each recipient and disappear after 24 hours if they are not opened.

Users can also tap the name of a friend in a Group chat to start a one-on-one chat - without send message indiscriminately to everyone on the thread - and then return to the group in one swipe, a feature dubbed as Quick Chat.

The Scissors tools allows users to cut out part of a Snap and turn it into a sticker, while the Paintbrush tool allows users draw on top of Snaps in Memories.
Groups can be created while sending a Snap, or when you’re making a new chat. When your friends are present in a group chat, we show their name at the bottom of the chat. Simply tap their name to start a 1:1 chat, and then easily return to the Group in one swipe. We call this Quick Chat, and it’s the fastest way to keep the conversation going with one friend without spamming the entire Group, Snapchat wrote on its blog.
