Protests continues in TRNC over the death of three people
Protest by Turkish Cypriots in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus TRNC
over the death of three people, including two teenage pupils and a 57-year-old
bus driver who were killed in an accident last week has continued on Tuesday.
The protesters blamed the accident on the darkness and the poor state of the roads and called for the government to turn the clock back an hour, to align with the EU.
Tuesday's protest was the second in general strike called by Turkish Cypriot union as hundreds of people gathered outside the ‘prime minister’s’ office demanding the resignation of three officials.
TRNC follow in the step of Turkey, and decided not to turn back the clock from Summer time in October, which meant that at 7am, the sun had not yet risen.
The accident involving the three people happened on the Dikomo to Kyrenia road on Pentadaktylos mountain on Wednesday November 30 where two sixteen-year-old girls and the driver were killed after their school bus collided with a truck.
The minibus carrying 10 passengers, including the wife of the driver was heading to Nicosia from Hardjia.

Trade unionists said
that by not applying European winter time, the minority ‘government’ was
leading the TRNC into chaos.
The unionists said
those responsible for the death of their children have stayed put, noting that
the administration, which has not sought to bring anyone to book, ought to
immediately request the resignation of the ‘ministers’ of transport, education
and labour.
