Nigeria Immigration set to increase cost of Nigerian passport

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Wednesday said it has began the process to review the cost of acquiring a Nigerian international passport in the future and according to the agency, it is not longer possible to issue passports at the current rates.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Muhammad Babandede made the disclosure at the flag off ceremony for the capacity building programme on Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Immigration officers in Abuja.

Mr. Babandede said the agency was waiting for the presidency's approval.
“It is not easy for us to pay for booklets because of the cost. You will agree with me that air tickets have doubled in this country. You are aware that a lot of things have changed, but the passport fees have not changed,” he said.
