New Yorkers signs petition demanding that Melania Trump leave the city because of exorbitant security costs involved

A petition has been signed by New Yorkers demanding that the wife of the US president-elect, Melania Trump move to Washington DC in January after the inauguration of her husband Donald Trump in other to avoid the exorbitant security costs incurred.

According to reports by the Independent, almost 100,000 people have demanded that Melania Trump move to Washington, after it was announced that the next First Lady intended to remain in New York until her son has finished the school year,

Melania Trump's bid to remain in New York will come at an estimated expenses of one million dollars a day in security costs to New York taxpayers.

The petition asks New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, and City Mayor Bill De Blasio to refuse to pay to protect Melania Trump, after the US president-elect moves out of Trump Tower.

“The New York taxpayers refuse to pay over $1 million a day so she can stay,” the petitioners wrote.

“If this decision has been made, between the two of them they should be the ones to pay for it. Not New York taxpayer dollars that could be used on roads, schools, transit, sanitation, new jobs and other expenses that the city has.”

“This is what tax dollars should be used for, improvements for the city and all the people of the city, not just one,” added the petitioners.
