More than 1 billion Yahoo user accounts hacked in 2013

Yahoo said it has discovered that more than 1 billion user accounts were hacked in August 2013, making it the biggest security breach in history.

The digital giant, said it believes hackers stole data from the hacked accounts after it it announced in September this year that at least 500 million accounts were exposed.

Yahoo said information stolen may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates and security questions and answers but said it believes bank-account information and payment-card data were not affected.

On Wednesday, Yahoo advised it is users to change their passwords and security questions and also not to click on an unsolicited links to avoid hacks.
