Crude oil discovered in Borno State Nigeria

The federal government of Nigeria said it has discovered huge amount of crude oil concentration in Borno State, North-East, after several months of exploration activities, thereby raising the hope of the region joining the league of oil-producing states in west African country.

The disclosure was announced on Thursday by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Jamila Shua’ra, at the presentation of the 2016 petroleum sector scorecard in Abuja.
She said that the discovery of crude oil in the state was one of the achievements of the ministry during the year.

“Our doggedness culminated in the discovery of oil in new frontiers – Lagos and Borno,” she said.

But she however failed to mention the particular area in Borno State where the oil was discovered and if the discovery was in commercial quantity.
