Weekly Motivation: The Role Model Principle
This week on our Weekly Motivation Corner, we look at the role model principle.
Without a Role Model you cannot play your role well. Albert Einstein said it best 'I am who I am because I stood on the shoulder of Giants'. Whatever you want to accomplish, wherever you want to go, someone has been there before and the one thing the greats do well is learn from others they respect and admire. That's why books are a necessity in the journey of life, not just any book, but books written by successful people in your field, or in the field you want to get into.
Mentors are guides, they are like fuel to your fire, they have been where you are and they have surpassed every obstacle on the way, they have defiled the fears that are holding you back, they have put in the effort, such wisdom is priceless. They are the pillars of possibilities, because whatever you are aiming for becomes possible especially when you see that someone has gone there, with the same resources and maybe even less than you have now.
Success is a mind game, it requires extensive mind development, no one succeeds without learning. Having mentors do not require that you call them every morning, or meet with them once in a while. It is possible to have a mentor who does not know your name, as far as you learning from someone, reading his/her materials, watching their videos, and consuming every information about the person, then that person is mentoring you. When choosing mentors, choose people that are not just successful but responsible, doing things the right way, creating value and uplifting people with their art or craft.
