"Post-truth" named word of the year 2016 by Oxford Dictionaries
Editors of the Oxford dictionary on Wednesday named the word: "Post-truth," a term that is used to
describe the current political climate as their word of the year 2016.

Dictionaries said that the use of the term rose 2,000 per cent
between 2015 and 2016, and is often used in discussions regarding Britain's decision to
leave the European Union and the campaign of US President-elect Donald
Trump.The word often used in the phrase "post-truth politics" is defined as “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”
According to the Oxford Dictionaries, the word is used an adjective, and is mostly associated with “post-truth politics.”
Every year, Oxford University Press tracks how the English language is changing and chooses a word that reflects the mood of the year.
Runners-up for the 2016 word of the year by Oxford Dictionaries include "Brexiteer," an advocate of the UK leaving the EU; "alt-right", the extreme conservative movement, and "hygge," the Danish concept of domestic coziness.
