North Cyprus parliamentary committee approves 60 days amnesty for illegal foreigners in the island
Illegal foreigners living and and working in Northern Cyprus without
resident and work permits can now breathe a sigh of relief and expect good news in the near future, as
Ministers make fresh attempt to allow them 60 days amnesty.
A draft Bill providing the 60 days amnesty has been given a 'green light' by the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus TRCN parliamentary committee and is to be referred to the parliament on Monday 14th November 2016.
The usual 90 days amnesty issued by the TRNC in August was suspended after it was blocked by the constitutıonal court after RTP (Republican Turkish Party) opposed the move as a breach of constitution.
The new bill will favour all foreigners, whether outside TRNC or living and working in North Cyprus illegally.
To become legal again, each foreigner will be expected to pay a single months minimum wage or salary - 1834TL, of which their employers will pay half that amount.
And also, another amendment to work permit law have also been approved by the parliamentary commıttee. It is aimed at easing limitations on businesses fined breaching regulations, which follows an appeal earlier this year.
It is generally believed that the current legislatıon is too harsh and the amendment is relevant.
