Hillary Clinton’s lead in the popular vote passes 1 Million
The US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has expanded her lead over the US president-elect Donald Trump in the popular vote to more than 1 million people, and could go
as high as 2.5 million. as the final ballots are counted.
Clinton currently has 61,964,263 votes against Trump's 60,961,967 votes.
The Electoral College will decide the final votes on December 19, it is very unlikely but possible for Hillary to win at the College.
A loophole in the US Constitution gives the Electoral College another vote to determine who becomes president even after the electorate has voted and should an elector vote against the will of the people - known as going ‘faithless’ - then it could have a huge influence on who becomes the next US president.
According to SandraRose.com, Clinton's supporters are hoping that the Electoral College will elect her as president on Dec. 19.
Also a Change.org petition protesting the Electoral College has received over 4.3 million signatures.
Clinton's loss in the Electoral College has prompted for calls among Democrats, about the system demanding that it be scraped. Recall that the Democratic party who also lost the presidential election in 2000 also won the popular vote.
