Federal Government of Nigeria to extend International passport validity to 10 years
The federal government of Nigeria considering extending the validity period for international passport from its current five years to 10 years.
The news was disclosed by the comptroller-general of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, during an interview with newsmen in the nation's capital Abuja at the weekend.
Babandede said Nigerians should expect an announcement on the policy changes in the coming weeks or months.

“We have submitted a memo to the president and we believe we’ll get a positive response to that soon, he said.
“We have received complaints that passports only take five years. The international community is not happy, wondering why passports will only be five years.
“They’re saying it should be 10 years and we’re already considering that. We need to make sure that we have age validity expansion,” Mr Babandede added.
