Donald Trump slams election result recount push as 'a scam'

US president-elect, Donald Trump has slammed the call for election results to be recounted in three key battleground states describing it as a "scam."

Trump on Saturday in his first comments about the efforts to recounts election results in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, said;

"The people have spoken and the election is over," "We must accept this result and then look to the future."

Wisconsin officials on Friday announced that they have agreed to recount election results in the state after Green Party nominee Jill Stein's Stein, who drew one per cent of the vote nationally, filed a paper work for a recount, making it the first presidential recount in state history.

Trump won the election with 290 electoral votes to Clinton's 232 who leads the national popular vote by close to 2 million votes.

"The results of this election should be respected instead of being challenged and abused, which is exactly what Jill Stein is doing," Trump said in a statement.
