World's tallest sandwich built in New York

The salami sammie Di Lusso Deli Company in New York City on Saturday beat the Guinness World Record* for the tallest sandwich when it crated the world's tallest sandwich, a mustard and salami construction involving 60 pieces of bread.

The top goal was an 80-slice sandwich but the tasty meat-and-cheese-selling company only managed to reach the 60 slices mark, missing out on its target.

To break the world record, the sandwich needed to stand for only one minute without toppling.

The sandwich was later given to people in need in the city including live music, games and even a massive sandwich sculpture.

The former world record was was set by a resort Sugardale Foods in Cleveland, Ohio when they constructed a 40 layer, 26 inch tall sandwich.
