Trinity Gay, daughter of US Sprinter Tyson Gay Killed in crossfire

Trinity Gay, the 15-year-old teenage daughter of  US Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay was killed on Sunday following a shooting at a restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky.

According to the Lexington Herald Leader, police said Trinity was shot in the neck around 4am local time and later died in the hospital within an hour of being rushed to the hospital.

Police said witnesses reported that Trinity was hit during an exchange of gunfire between two cars.

Police said two people in one of the cars have been arrested and were detained for questioning.

Her father Tyson Gay, who spoke to local television station WLEX, said:
“She didn’t make it. I’m so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened.”
Trinity Gay who dreamed of competing in the Olympics and becoming a surgeon was a rising athlete and a top high school sprinter said her mother Shoshana Boyd.
“She was so innocent. She was so innocent,” Boyd told the New York Daily News.
“I just want people to stop shooting and realize who they’re hurting. It’s just random. They don’t understand. They don’t understand who they’re hurting.”
