Sir Alex Ferguson tips Cristiano Ronaldo for Ballon d'Or - says he's 'unbeatable'

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo as favourite to win the 2016 Ballon d'Or.

Ferguson who was speaking to Marca in an interview said the achievements of the Real Madrid star over the last year are "unbeatable."

Ronaldo a three-time Ballon d'Or winner won the Champions League with Real Madrid last season scoring 51 goals in all competitions as the Real Madrid finished second in La Liga and also captained Portugal to the Euro 2016 trophy in June where they defeated host France in the finals in which he scored three goals.

Other players competing with the 31-year-old for the single personal award includes; France's Antoine Griezmann and Argentina's Lionel Messi who were both outstanding last season.
"I cannot think of anyone better to take the Ballon d'Or trophy. One of my proudest moments are those when I recall the part Manchester United played in his career. We wish him the best,"Ferguson said.
Ferguson further said that having won both the Champions League and the European Championship in the same calendar year was an "unbeatable" achievement.
"His achievements are unbeatable, he has had a marvelous year, winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and captaining Portugal to Euro 2016," Ferguson said.
"Even though he missed the final with injury, he was on the sideline supporting his teammates because he had such desire to lift the trophy. It was marvellous."
