FIFA World Rankings 2016: Argentina retain top spot as Germany and Brazil closes in

Argentina has retain it's position as the world's best football team in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

Germany and Brazil moved up closer to the South American side sitting on second and third place respectively as Belgium dropped out of the top three to fourth for the first time since March 2015.

There were further changes in the top 10 rankings following the last international break which saw national teams in action in the qualifying stages for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The top 10 changes saw Colombia dropped down to fifth place, with Euro 2016 host France overtaking eventual winner to seventh, while Spain return to the top 10 replacing Wales in 10th as Chile and Uruguay both retained sixth and ninth spots respectively to complete the top 10.
Montenegro had the biggest rise in places and points this month as they advanced a massive 49 places to 56th. 

Cyprus had the biggest loss as they dropped 52 spots to 139th.

Nigeria moved up to 60th in the ranking and the 11th best team in Africa moving up 4 places as Côte d'Ivoire remain the best rank team in Africa and 31st in the world.
