Cristiano Ronaldo provokes Buddhists after 'disrespectful' social media post of himself placing a leg on a Buddha statue

Three time world footballer of the year Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped on the toes of Buddhist around the world after he shared a photo of himself posing with one of his legs on top of a Buddha statue on his Instagram on Thursday morning.

Buddhists took to social media to blast the Portuguese star for disrespecting the deity they worshiped as a father figure of Buddhism.

Some called him all sort of names, threatening him with curses and calamity while others said they are no longer his fans.  

One Facebook user Shubham Pandey said:

“This is disrespectful …. How can he put his leg on Gautam Buddha …. I was not expecting this stupidity from Ronaldo …. Sir today u lost one of ur fan this is very bad.”

Another user Eranda Lesnar Ranasinghe wrote:

“Ronaldo has lost one of his fans just now. You can’t step on a Lord Buddha’s statue you idiot.. We didn’t excpect such a disrespectful behavior from you.”
