PSG defender Serge Aurier sentenced to two months in prison

France: Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier has been given a two-month prison sentence by a French court after being found guilty for allegedly attacking a police officer in May.
Aurier, 23 appeared at the Correctional Court in Paris on Monday to face charges over an incident outside a nightclub in the city in May.

Aurier was arrested following an altercation with police near the Champs-Elysees on May 30 and put in a holding cell for " acting violently towards a police officer."

The Paris correctional tribunal fined the Ivory Coast international €600 with a further €1,500 in court costs.

After the case, the prosecutor requested a two-month suspended sentence with community service.

He has already announced that he will appeal the decision, through his lawyer Claire Boutard de la Combe who said:
"We're appealing. Mr Aurier contests the findings. He's not guilty and must be acquitted."
PSG said in a statement, that they had "taken note of the decision against Aurier."
"Because of his appeal, PSG still presume the player innocent as the case is still ongoing," the statement said. "Aurier can continue to play and do his job in France and abroad.
"PSG also want to emphasise his professional attitude since returning to training in July. PSG will make no further official comment until Aurier's appeal has been judged."
Aurier's sentence is "convertible", meaning that he will almost certainly perform community service rather than going go to jail.
