Myanmar ranked 2016 world’s most generous countries
According to a new research from Gallup, Myanmar have been rated the most generous country in the world. People in Myanmar are very
generous and are the most likely nationality to make regular
charitable donations.
According to Gallup, 91 per cent of the people there who were interviewed said they donated to a charity during the past thirty days, according to Gallup.
The Asian country has consistently been scored highly in studies about charitable giving.
Theravada Buddhists practicing Sangha Dana have a strong influence on the level of giving in Myanmar and other Asian countries where many believe that what people do in this life improves their chances of the next life being a better one.
Indonesia sits in second place in the world generosity rank with 75 per cent of its people donating to charity over the past month while Australia comes third.
The US misses out on the top-10 place on the list with 63 per cent of Americans donating on a regular basis.
Also missing out on the top rank is Nigeria.
Malta is in fourth while New Zealand completes the top five.
