Celebrities: 35-year-old reality TV star Kim Kardashian has backtracked on her political spectacle over who she is casting her vote for at coming US presidential election in November and is now saying “I stand with Hillary”.
Kim caused some surprised last week when she said she was “on the
fence” about who to vote for.
“At
first I thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m so Hillary,’ but I had a
long political call with Caitlyn (Jenner) last night about why she’s
voting Trump. I’m on the fence,” Kardashian told Wonderland magazine last week.
Kim Kardashian has now confirmed she will being
voting for Clinton.
“I had a long conversation with Caitlyn, who has always been open about her political views,” Kim wrote on her blog, in reference to her former stepfather, Caitlyn Jenner.
Jenner
has been a long-time Republican supporter, who spoke at the party’s
convention in July saying it was “harder” to come out as a
Republican than it was for her to reveal she is transgender.
Kim who titled her blog post “I’m With Her”, wrote:
“(Caitlyn)
encouraged me to do my research before making my decision and then vote
for the candidate whose policies aligned with the things that matter
most to me.”
“And
so that’s what I did. I thought about the things that are so important
to me that they outweigh everything else, such as gun control and
protecting women’s rights to safe and legal abortion.”
Kardashian continued:
“I believe we owe it to ourselves, and to each other, to ask questions.
“To do our research so that we vote for the candidate who represents our own beliefs.”
Kim said she believed Clinton would “best represent our country and is the most qualified for the job”.
“I found that without a doubt, I stand with Hillary. I’m with her,” she wrote on her blog.
“This
year, I’m not just voting for myself, but also for my children, and I
took that into careful consideration when I made my decision.”
Kim seems to be taking this presidential election seriously. Maybe part of which is her husband, Kanye West's wish to run for
president in 2020.
“I don’t wanna put words in his mouth, but I’m pretty sure the Democrats,” Kim told Wonderland, of West’s likely campaign for the presidency.
“Maybe independent? I don’t know how serious he is about it. We’ll see.”
