'Don't shoot him'- footage shows fatal encounter between police, Keith Lamont Scott

US: The family of a 43-year-old black man fatally shot by police in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday September 20,  have released its own video of the incident that provoked three days of protests that has left one person dead and several others wounded as the family continued to urge officials to release their own recordings of the encounter.

The two-minute video of the moment that a black police officer shoots Keith Scott, a father of seven, recorded by his wife Rakeyia who can be heard urging officers not to open fire on her husband, cannot be seen.
"Don't shoot him! He has no weapon," Rakeyia was heard telling officers as they yell at Scott to "Drop the gun!"
In the video released to the US media, about 5-6 gunshots can be heard, followed by Rakeyia's scream of:
"Did you shoot him? He better not be dead."
Scott's death was the latest in series of controversial fatal shooting of black people by US police that have sparked an intense debate on race and justice.

Scott's death stirred two days of rioting in Charlotte, North Carolina with protesters dismissing police claims that Scott was holding gun.

Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Chief Kerr Putney said video taken by police body cameras supports the police's version of incident but has refused to release the video to the public.

On Friday, Putney told reporters that releasing the video now could affect the ongoing investigation into the shooting, being led by the state.

Scott's family, had initially argued that he was carrying a book, but after viewing the police video on Thursday, they said it was "impossible to discern" what, if anything, he was carrying.

No gun can be seen in Rakeyia's video, which was recorded from a nearby curb as the events unfolded on the street in front of her.

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Chief Kerr Putney, said police have  arrested a civilian and charged him with the murder of a protester who was shot during Wednesday night's protest and died on Thursday.
