5.1 magnitude quake hit Tibet
China: According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the CENC, it reported that a magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook the
Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western China's Sichuan province
on Friday.
The
quake, with a depth of about 16 kilometres, was felt at 1.23 am local time and was
recorded at 30.10 degrees latitude north and 99.61 degrees longitude
east.A statement by CENC, released by China official news agency Xinhua, it said no casualties were reported at the time of the report.
Ganzi has a population of less than one million people, mostly ethnic Tibetans and is located on the Tibetan plateau.
