Turkish authorities fire 2800 judges and prosecutors

Turkey: In a report by broadcaster CNN Turk, more than 2,800 judges and prosecutors have been fired by Turkish authorities on Wednesday, in relation to the ongoing purge in Turkey following July 15 failed coup attempt.

The country has sacked or suspended about 80,000 people from the Turkish civil service, judiciary, police and courts after the attempted coup, which it blames on followers of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.

The government claims that followers of Gulen had spent years penetrating several Turkish institutions with the aim of overthrowing the government.

Gulen who is on a self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania, US since 1999, denies the allegations and also condemning the coup.
