Six people wounded by armed man on Swiss train

Switzerland: Six people have been wounded including a six-year-old child after a 27-year-old man set a train carriage on fire using flammable liquid and also stabbed passengers in Switzerland on Saturday police said.

In a statement by regional police in St Gallen, it said the man who was also injured carried out the attack on a train traveling in Switzerland’s far east, along its border with Liechtenstein.

According to reports by local media, three women aged 17, 34 and 43 sustained injuries in the attack, while a 17-year-old boy and 50-year-old man were also targeted as some of the injured people are said to be in a serious condition.
Many other passengers were on board at the time of the attack, and a “massive contingent” of police, firefighters, rescue helicopters and paramedics are at the scene of the incident.

In a statement released by officials after the incident, the suspect was also injured in the attack, and rushed to a hospital near Salez in St Gallen Canton.

Three rescue helicopters were at the scene of the attack as officials launch a major criminal investigation into the attack.
St Gallen Police in a statement said;
“According to current information a 27-year-old Swiss man poured out a flammable liquid.
“He was also armed with at least one knife. The liquid caught fire.”
According to investigators, reasons behind the attack is still unknown, and the station remains closed.
